Bessie Pease Gutmann was an American artist and illustrator, most noted for her paintings of putti (winged baby angels), infants, and young children. During the early 1900s she was one of the better-known magazine and book illustrators in the United States. The baby in the high chair is 21″ x 17″. The girl standing in the corner is 15″ x 19 1/2″. It is titled “In Disgrace” and has a poem pasted on the back of the frame backing.
